evening in Cortona

oh, hello. I come here a bit. I come here...uh...uh...from time to time.

In six days, the blog will be reborn. but in the past month, I have been doing some thinkin' on my own, and I've come up with the fact that there are at least two certainties in life:

1) In general, there is too much complaining in this world about relatively insignificant things.

2) if you want to put your finger on the pulse of happier living, walk up and down the main drag in the city of Cortona. It is impossible not to have some of that vibe rub off on you. Picture this: people will SIT, perhaps sip too, but mostly SIT, at a sidewalk cafe. All day. And talk. Simply, talk. Talk!!! You know what else? People from varying ages mix in their everyday lives much more frequently in Italy than in the US. They sit together, they enjoy a meal or a coffee together, they certainly laugh together, and they have frank, open, soul-baring conversations together. And they are happier. I mean, WAY happier. Wild, just wild. Bottle it.

You know, you're right... that woman in the purple dress and her companion in the plaid shirt really do look way happy.

bravo once again my no-suspension friend! Ah, the tangible, unbridled enthusiasm just jumping off the screen...

i'm sure your presence had alot to do with their happiness too. when you leave, they're all miserable.

I couldn't agree more. People of varying ages (hehe) sit together, after dinner, and share one of those beautiful soul-baring conversations... and are wildly happy as a result.

Minus the paparazzi, that is. ;-)
